William Maxwell - Bank of Stockton Archivist

Bank of Stockton Archives Program

The Bank of Stockton has purchased or otherwise acquired a substantial library of Stockton/San Joaquin County historic photos.

Part of the library consists of seven albums of photos from amateur photographer Charles G. Bird a founding member of the Rotary Club of Stockton. The albums are made up of 7,000 photos taken in the early 1900’s of family, business and Rotary subject matter which have been annotated with what, when and where by Bird.

All of the photos have been cataloged, and many of them, including 358 from photos of the Bird collection, have been scanned and are available to the public for viewing by appointment.

William Maxwell was introduced by Jerry Zedlitz.

A personal note from Bill Brown.

"I have found the Bank of Stockton and Maxwell very helpful in researching the photo library and to be willing for the pictures to be used by a third party for appropriate purposes."
