Speaker...

Gary Morata and Peter Salamon - Physicians at Alpine Orthopedic Medical Group

African Mercy Ship

Gary Morata led a lively talk along with Peter Salamon about their time aboard the Mercy Ship. They each spent two weeks on this floating hospital that docks in needy areas like Liberia for up to ten months.

Although the two doctors focused on their orthopedic specialties, the ships offer a variety of medical services in modern operating rooms like cleft palate repair and dental exams. The ships also bring water sanitation to impoverished areas.

Everyone on the ship pays their own way and a nominal fee for the room is charged, making the time on board a truly "service above self" experience.

More information can be found at www. mercyships.org

Dr's Morata and Salamon were introduced by Joe Serra.
