Joe Serra receiving the Vocational Avenues of  Service Award

President Gary Putnam presented an International flag display as a reminder that as Rotarians we are able to be part of something much greater than our selves. The flags represent the big picture of Rotary.

President Gary introduced the meeting by emphasizing the contribution of Rotarians who have gone before us: The cairns found in England are piles of rocks used to mark the way. Often later hikers will add stones to the pile with the result that those who come next are able to find their way.

Past RI Pres. Cliff Dochterman is one who has gone before us and has added stones to mark the way for us. One of those stones was Cliff’s comment to Pres. Gary concerning the accomplishments of the R I Polio Plus program throughout the world that was instrumental in bringing Gary into Rotary and the Rotary Club of Stockton

Pass Rotary Traditions Along

One important reason for attending Rotary meetings is, “You never know who will need you.”

One of the jobs of older Rotarians is pass on the traditions of Rotary to newer members.  One is attendance.  Cliff has 50 years of perfect attendance.

Only a few of us have the opportunity to do great things, but all of us can do something to improve our community or the life of someone in our community such as donating food to a food bank or teach a child to read.

"Rotary service isn’t done by people who have time on their hands, but by people with concern in their hearts."

Cliff Dochterman was introduced by Judy Chambers.
