Speaker...

Steve Shoemaker - Cynosure Alliance, Incorporated

Counter Terrorism Experiences

Steve Shoemaker, recently returned from 10 months in Iraq, gave an informative account of the challenges of the war on terror. He reminded us ”How fortunate we all are to have the gift of freedom and to be able to vote for our leaders”. He then gave an informative summary of the history of the Nation of Islam and the radical Muslim jihadists. Al-Qaeda is an agile evolving entity, adjusting to our counter terrorism efforts, and guided by their interpretation of the Koran. Their goal is to convert or kill and are willing to die for this cause.

The U.S., Coalition Forces and the Iraq army have made progress. They have had success with the continued capture or killing of al-Qaeda leaders. The Iraq people are stepping up in their efforts to clean up their country as the fear of Sadam wanes. The Iraq government and judicial system is becoming a more decisive and just entity.

"In the future, a clash of civilizations and a war between the haves and have nots” was Mr. Shoemaker's parting synopsis of what is to come. During the Q & A session he assured the group that there are many approaches to win the war on terror with a heavy emphasis on education of people in that region. The other key being electing a U.S. President who is willing to make the tough decisions regarding the war on terror.

Steve Shoemaker was introduced by Larry Seiler.
